Strategic Positioning in the Uncrewed Systems Market
After Deutz AG had already acquired Sobek Group, a leading manufacturer of drone propulsion systems, in early September 2025, the company shortly thereafter took a stake in ARX Robotics as part of a financing round. This commitment was further intensified through a strategic partnership. These decisions underscore that the internationally active engine manufacturer intends to position itself more broadly in the future-oriented market of uncrewed systems.
Addressing Future Defense Requirements Through Partnership
“Uncrewed and semi-autonomous defence systems are becoming increasingly important and will be a central component of future armed forces. To this end, we are combining ARX Robotics’ leading software and robotics expertise with our strengths in propulsion systems, decentralized energy supply and industrial production,” emphasizes Deutz CEO Dr. Sebastian Schulte. “It is precisely these partnerships made in Germany that we need to sustainably strengthen Europe’s defence capabilities.”
ARX Robotics’ UGV Portfolio for Military and Security Users
As one of the leading manufacturers of uncrewed ground vehicles (UGVs) for the military and security authorities, ARX has been supplying UGVs from its in-house Gereon family to the Ukrainian armed forces for some time and, together with the startup Helsing, is pursuing the development of a combined operational network of uncrewed systems on land and in the air. Most recently, ARX also presented the new Hector model, a transport and reconnaissance platform that can also be operated with a crew.
Scaling Manufacturing and Operational Readiness
While Deutz is strengthening its position in the field of uncrewed military technology through the cooperation with the startup based in Oberding near Munich, ARX benefits in particular from Deutz AG’s manufacturing capacities and global service network, headquartered in Cologne. “With Deutz, we are linking the intelligence of our Mithra OS platform and vehicle systems with first-class propulsion systems, mobile energy solutions and industrial manufacturing,” explains Marc Wietfeld, Co-Founder and CEO of ARX Robotics. “This allows us to bring uncrewed systems into service more quickly, increase availability and reliability in operation, and create the basis for scaling across Europe. Our mission remains unchanged: to protect soldiers, ease the burden on logistics and build capabilities across the field.”
